Every entrepreneur knows customers are very important to the health of any business. Being able to entice new customers to do business with your company will not only increase your profit revenues, but it will help it grow and flourish. Here are four ways to attract new customers.



  1. Know Your Customer as Well as Possible

To sell successfully, you need to know who wants to buy your product or service. As an entrepreneur, you need to find out everything you can about this group of people you want as customers and the more you know, the better you will be able to meet their needs and solve their problems. The more you understand your audience, the better you can serve them and the more new customers you will attract.

Once you have determined the group, you want to target you will also want to find out some important facts about their lifestyle. For instance, if you want to sell backpacks to long-distance hikers, what is the age range of these people? How much money does this group of people make?  Have they spent time in the military and prefer that sort of gear?

Finding out as many facts as possible about your customers will reveal many things. For example, if they typically earn more money than average, they may prefer a brand-name backpack instead of something more bargain priced.

  1. Offer Good Deals

An owner of a local hair salon claims he generates a lot of new business by advertising with coupons for discounted service in his salon at least once a month. He will typically give a new customer a cut and color for 25% off of the regular price and sometimes more. This strategy works well in his business, bringing in lots of new customers or “walk-ins” for the hair salon. This savvy business owner realizes that his potential customer is very attracted by the aspect of saving money and will use the coupon.

Another local business, an organic grocery store, periodically offers great discounts on vitamins and supplements at certain times of the year. Customer traffic increases dramatically during this time and brings in lots of new people that become repeat buyers.

  1. Trade Shows and Community Gatherings

Attending trade shows, meeting your potential customers face to face and handing out business cards can generate a lot of new business on the Internet or in your hometown. At a trade show or any community gathering, you can use an advertising strategy that will attract attention. It can be something simple like a drawing for a prize. Hand out as many of your business cards as you can. A potential customer may not contact you right away but can call you in the future.

For example, a pressure washing business owner claims new customers call him up to a year after he gave them his card. The customer kept the information until they needed the service.

Advertise your products and services in as many creative ways as you can devise. One computer repair entrepreneur networks with other local business owners. These store owners keep a small stack of his business cards in their shops for easy customer access. He does the same thing in his shop. Networking in this manner provides a stream of new customers for all of the businesses that participate.

An Internet entrepreneur can utilize the same practice by networking with other online companies. Providing links on another site can direct new customers to your website.
